Description

This is the Smithsonian Institution, commonly known as "The Castle". It was the first building of the Smithsonian in Washington DC and was completely in 1855. The monument is constructed of red sandstone from Seneca Creek, Maryland, in the Norman style (a 12th-century combination of late Romanesque and early Gothic motifs). Well that's enough for the history lesson... I took this a couple weeks ago on vacation. :)
